Project Completed

2021 - Construction of a two-classroom plus office/storage block

Background:

Shiloh Place Orphanage (in French – Orphelinat Silo Place) was started in 2010. It is a non-profit community organization located in Lubumbashi, Democratic Republic of Congo.

The purpose of the NGO was to take care of orphans, many of whom were living in desperate conditions on the street of Lubumbashi, by providing housing, food, medical care and education.

On land owned by the orphanage, the first of four housing units has been constructed. In addition, a multi-purpose centre has been built. It is used as a church and for other community purposes. Currently schooling for the orphans as well as under-privileged children from the community also takes place in the centre.

The first stage in the construction of the school was to build two classrooms to accommodate the grade 1 and 2 students plus a small office/storage area at a cost of $25,000. This project was completed in 2021.

The school is now in need of a further 3 classroom block to accommodate their growing numbers.
