Background:

Tshwane Christian School is situated to the north of the city of Tshwane (previously Pretoria), South Africa and is close to a very large township and informal settlement area. It was established in 1992 to provide "Christ-centered education, training programs and all-inclusive care for destitute children."

The area the school serves has high unemployment, crime, and poverty. The focus of the school's program is on "preparing and training young people to lead meaningful and productive lives."
