Victorious Primary Welcomes Some Visitors!

In October 2013, representatives of C4A visited Victorious  Nursery and Primary School to see the new classrooms which had been completed with a C4A grant provided by donors in Alberta who had contributed to a fund established to honour a retiring administrator from Glenmore Christian Academy in Calgary.

The visitors were  thrilled to see the difference the addition of the new classrooms had made to the school, especially as the space can be used for groups to write the state Grade 7 examinations. This feature has allowed the school to be classified as a district examination centre for students not only from Victorious Primary, but also from surrounding schools. The school has a high rating because its students score exceptionally well each year on the national exams. Victorious was started in 2003 by Pastor Elly Muhumuza (shown below) to provide a Christian education to the children in the impoverished area of Kyabukuza where he works. The school currently enrolls 450 students from Pre-Kindergarten through Grade 7. After a plaque and Canadian flag were present by C4A, the students treated their visitors to dancing and music  backed up by some amazing drumming by the students. Thank you donors – you have shown “The Power of One Classroom to Make a Difference”!
